As part of the DARIAH-PL infrastructure project, a model reference dataset for the study of barrow cemeteries was developed using the early medieval burial ground in Nowy Chorów (Pomerania) as a case study. The cemetery, consisting of 17 well-preserved Orzeszkowo-type barrows arranged in two clusters, represents a site of exceptional research and conservation value. The dataset is based on archival documentation from the excavation of barrow K8 (2022), supplemented by extended three-dimensional documentation from investigations of barrows K3 and K11 conducted in 2025. It includes inventories of layers, features, and artefacts; excavation diaries; drawing documentation digitized within a GIS environment; photographic and graphic records; LiDAR data covering the entire site; and photogrammetric documentation of each excavation level, including three-dimensional spatial distribution of artefacts and cremated remains. The project aimed to create a FAIR-compliant reference dataset enabling full reconstruction of the excavation process, research decisions, and interpretations based on verifiable and reusable data.
